When Christian and his mom, Julie, saw a television show about children in Central America who were dying because they didn’t have shoes, he knew he had to do something.

What Christian did:  When Christian, 7, saw the show on TV, he was shocked and saddened to learn that even though the kids were getting food and clean water from missionaries, many were dying because they were getting sores and infections on their feet that would spread to other parts of their bodies, making some very sick, and killing others.  He thought about his own life, and the fact that he has more than one pair of shoes, and how these kids were dying for not having any shoes.  He told his mom that he could give his shoes for these kids.  He began writing to area churches, asking them to collect shoes, which he will ship to Shoes For Orphan Souls to give to kids who need them.  He also plans to write to shoe makers in his area, and will be talking to high school students, asking them to get involved, too.  This Christmas, he is asking that people donate shoes for orphans instead of spending money on things they don’t really need.
