God made Adam and Eve and placed them in a beautiful garden, where God wanted to live with them forever.  The problem is that Adam and Eve chose to disobey God.  When people disobey God and live differently than He wants them to live, that is called sin.  Every single person since Adam and Eve has sinned.  And the punishment for our sin is that we are separated from God.  That means that every single person has been separated from God by their sin.
